I will be participating in the 11th Annual Susan G. Koman Walk for the Cure. My family and friends have formed a team called Vive La Vida ("Live Life") So far we have raised $300 our goal is to reach $500. I have designed a shirt for our team and we have all agreed to go with this one! Our shirts will be ready on Monday and we have a total number of 25 people on our team! It is going to be a fun day, we are walking in celebration on my mom who is a survivor! This is for a great cause if you are interested in supporting the walk please click here and make a donation.

Here is a little info:

History: Susan G. Komen for the Cure, formerly the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, was established in 1982. The organization began as a promise between Nancy G. Brinker and her sister Susan G. Komen who died of breast cancer at the age of 36. At the end of 2007, Komen will have invested nearly $1 billion in breast cancer research and community outreach programs, becoming one of the world's largest sources of funds fighting breast cancer.

The Komen San Antonio Affiliate was founded in 1997. Since inception and with donor support, our organization has contributed $7 million to fund a variety of local projects that provide vital services to the medically under-served of our community and we support international breast cancer research through the Komen Award and Research Grant Program. Komen San Antonio Affiliate serves as a resource for those seeking opportunities for services and treatment, and we endeavor to raise awareness and educate the community about the benefits of early detection in the fight to end breast cancer.

2007-2008 Funding: Komen runs one of the most responsive grant programs in breast cancer today. Komen San Antonio Affiliate will contribute $1.2 million for vital community-based breast cancer screening, treatment and education projects for the medically under-served of our community.

Komen San Antonio Race for the Cure: This event is a day of remembrance, hope, inspiration and celebration for breast cancer survivors family and friends. The 10th annual Race was held March 31, 2007, attracting more than 27,000participants, including 1,400 survivors, and for the fourth consecutive year, raised more than $1 million for the continued fight to end breast cancer.
Up to 75 percent of the Affiliate's net income stays in San Antonio to fund local breast cancer screening, treatment and education. And 25 percent goes to the Komen for the Cure Award and Research Grant Program which supports groundbreaking breast cancer research awards and scientific programs around the world.
